The practical stuff
Terms of Use
Last updated: September 19, 2026
1. Using Touch Grass
These terms describe your use of Touch Grass, provided by Aderet Technologies LLC. By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Touch Grass, or older if the law where you live requires a higher minimum age for this use. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you must have a parent or legal guardian review these terms with you and give permission for you to use the app. Parental permission does not allow children under 13 to use Touch Grass.
3. App license
For apps obtained through Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs your license to the app unless a separate custom license agreement is provided through the App Store. These terms supplement that license with terms for Touch Grass challenges and services and do not limit mandatory consumer rights.
4. What the app does
Touch Grass helps you set limits on distracting apps and complete real-world challenges to earn more time. Features depend on device compatibility, permissions, and service availability. Challenge verification uses automated technology and may make mistakes.
5. Keep it safe
Use your judgment when completing a challenge. Do not trespass, use your phone while driving, put yourself or anyone else at risk, or photograph people without appropriate permission. Skip any challenge that is unsafe or unsuitable for you. Touch Grass is a habit-building tool and does not provide medical advice or emergency services.
6. Physical risks and voluntary participation
Real-world activities can involve uneven or slippery ground, traffic, weather, animals, physical exertion, and other hazards. These hazards can cause property damage, falls, fractures, other serious injury, permanent disability, or death. Participation is voluntary. Before and during each challenge, assess your surroundings, health, physical abilities, equipment, and any applicable restrictions. You may stop or skip a challenge at any time; do not continue for a reward if doing so is unsafe. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you understand and voluntarily assume the risks associated with your participation.
7. Verification is not a safety assessment
A challenge suggestion, camera response, or successful verification does not mean an activity, location, object, or action is safe or suitable for you. Automated verification can miss hazards and give incorrect guidance. Do not follow any instruction or feedback that would put you or another person at risk. You remain responsible for deciding whether and how to participate safely.
8. Release of claims
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you release Aderet Technologies LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from claims arising from your voluntary participation in challenges, including claims for property damage, personal injury, or death resulting from ordinary negligence. This release applies only to claims you may lawfully release. It does not release claims arising from gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be released. It does not purport to waive another person’s independent rights or claims.
9. Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Touch Grass and its services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To that extent, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of profits or data, arising from use of the app or services, and our total liability arising from the app or services is limited to the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid for Touch Grass in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These exclusions and limits do not apply to gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for personal injury or death where such an exclusion or limit is prohibited. Mandatory consumer rights and remedies remain unaffected.
10. Subscriptions and payments
Some features require a subscription. The price, billing period, and any trial terms are shown before purchase. Apple manages App Store billing. Subscriptions renew according to the purchase terms unless canceled. Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple account; deleting the app does not cancel it. Refund requests are handled through Apple, subject to applicable rights.
11. Your use of the service
Use the app lawfully. Do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, or submit unlawful content. You retain ownership of the images you submit. You give us permission to receive, transmit, and process them through our service providers solely to provide challenge verification as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the permissions needed to submit those images. We may restrict or suspend access for abuse, violations of these terms, safety concerns, or ineligible use, subject to applicable law and consumer rights.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled, including camera verification and subscription services. Review it before submitting images or using these features.
13. Availability and changes
Features may change or become temporarily unavailable. We do not promise that verification or app limits will work without interruption or error. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
14. Ending use and questions
You may stop using Touch Grass at any time. Cancel subscriptions separately through Apple and use the available data controls as needed. We may update these terms as the service changes. For material changes, we will provide notice in the app and request renewed acceptance before continued use. Changes apply prospectively and do not remove rights that have already accrued. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Contact us below with questions.
